REHABILITATION OF THE BRIDGE OVER THE RIVER ALBERCHE

The rehabilitation of this historic bridge is characterised by the trend to preserve the existing 19^thcentury structures, upgrading them so to meet the new service requirements.

The work consisted in the widening of a brick bridge with small approaches. This required similar techniques to those employed for the bridge over the Jarama River in Algete: the use of micropile strengthened foundations and the emptying of the volumes between the spandrel walls and subsequent filling with concrete.
