Technical Data

  • Building height: 25 m above ground level
  • Net floor area: 12.000 m2

Description

The structural configuration adopted has been determined according to several fundamental concepts, set with the aim of optimizing the cost of the structural system, ease its constructability and minimize the demolition costs, as the pavilion may have to be removed once the Expo is over.

Thus, all horizontal forces (wind, earthquake, deviation forces…) shall be exclusively withstood by the four staircases cores placed at the four corners of the building.

The floor structure consists of composite floor with folded steel plates, bearing onto triangular-section trusses, with double top chords and single bottom chord, easing the passing-through of ducts, and reducing the span of the secondary beams.

The structure of the cupola consist exclusively of tubular elements contained in vertical planes, set radially from the cupola’s axis, without any sort of diagonal elements, easing the construction procedure and cost, as well as favoring the visual disposition of the structure.
