Description

The Mengibar Bridge is a solution employing a composite girder connected to sculptural concrete piers. The structure of the deck of this bridge is to be highlighted because of the novelty of its structural type. The steel box girders are built-in at the piers so to configure a hyperstatic frame.

The basic concept behind the design of the deck was to ensure a very fast execution process so to achieve building the bridge in an exceptionally short period of time. In order to meet these requirements, the transverse ribs of the deck as well as its lattice girder planks have been prefabricated off site.
