Description

The House of Music in Gandía encloses a conservatorium, a large auditorium and several concert rooms. It also includes a large exterior plaza where stage events can be organised.

The structural scheme consists of reinforced concrete shear walls, beams and slabs which at certain places act compositely with steel beams. They are perfectly adapted to the irregular geometry of the building.

Auditorium and conservatorium, the two bodies which determine the form, rise independently from the foundation and configure a plaza and a clear gathering space which is ceiled at second floor level where both bodies merge together.

The structure withholds large cantilever bodies enabled by the load-bearing capacity of the system of shear walls, composite and reinforced concrete beams and solid slabs which all act together.
