LAUNCHING OF THE H.S.R.L. VIADUCT OVER THE A-7 HIGHWAY

The Project consisted in the design and supervision of the incremental launching of a large viaduct for the La Roca-Llinars section of the Madrid – Barcelona – French border high-speed railway line at its crossing with the A-7 motorway in the outskirts of Barcelona.

The design process required a detailled analysis of different launching options. The optimum solution chosen being one that uses a 30 m long launching nose so to reach a maximum span of 75 m with minimum deflections over the motorway.

Both the launching process and the structure to be launched have been analyzed in order to ascertain loads on piers and deflections and stresses in the structure at each instant of time.
