Technical Data

  • Buildings: 1
  • Maximum height: 13.5 m (8 mabove grade)
  • Gross floor area: 8,000 m2

Description

The building is made up of four rectangular storeys  shifted horizontally one from another so to create alternations of volumes, cantilevers and setbacks of the facades.

This peculiarity of the global scheme of the building, as well as the functional requirements for educational facilities (the need for open-plan rooms, laboratories, meeting rooms, etc. ) constitute the starting blocks for the definition of the structural framework of this building.

The basement is intended for housing the greater part of the hardly compartmentalized areas for labs and facilities and one of its extremities accommodates the very outstanding test basin and wave flume for hydraulics and maritime engineering.

The main entrance is to be found on the ground floor and provides direct access from the street. This floor shall also hold most of the common class and lecture rooms.

The first floor has a more private character and is partitioned into staff and admin offices of various areas.
