BASCULE BRIDGE AT THE PORT OF BARCELONA TENDER

The proposalpresented in response to the call for tenders by the Barcelona Port authorities consisted of a double leaf, braced steel lifting bridge with a total hinged span of 85 m.

Eachleaf is supported on solid reinforced concrete piers elevated above sea level.

The work is completed with the approach ramps to the lifting bridge which are carried on slender piers. These approaches together with the bracing system of the bridge and the selected colour scheme provide an attractive lightness to the entire work,

The tender proposal received an honourable mention by the panel.
