Assembling of the first V-shaped column of Bilbao Fine Arts Museum

On January 19th took place the assembling of the first V-shaped supporting column of the new bridge-building of the extension of the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum – Agravitas, designed by the architects Norman Foster and Luis María Uriarte.

The structure has been designed by MC2 Estudio de Ingeniería, which is currently carrying out the Technical Assistance to the Construction Management. Guillermo Blanco and Álvaro Serrano have attended this maneuver together with the teams from Foster+Partners, LMU Arkitektura, TekArk Studio, KREAN, as well as the Museum Direction.  The maneuver, led by the JV in charge of the execution of the extension (Urbelan, Altuna y Uria, Campezo and Teusa) and by the steel workshop Inbersa, was successful.

Several authorities and the media were able to witness this maneuver, which is one of the major milestones in the execution of this unique work, and which has had an important repercussion in the local and national press. Congratulations to all the teams involved in this interesting design and construction process!
