BELLVITGE HOSPITAL IN HOSPITALET DE LLOBREGAT

Project details

Technical Data

  • Number of floors: 24 floors
  • Total height: 82 m

Description

The Bellvitge Hospital, (currently the Príncipe de Asturias Hospital Residence), is a structure composed of concrete columns and composite beams.

Given the elevated height of the hospital, which rises above all other buildings in this suburb of Barcelona, the horizontal wind loads are countered by a central elevator-and-stair core made out of reinforced concrete.

The horizontal structure is designed as a lighton made up of composite beams, ceramic hollow blocks and a structural concrete topping.

The 24-storey high main building is attached to an annexe of more moderate proportions.

The rooftop of the building is fitted with a heliport.
