CALLE TORRELAGUNA BRIDGE OVER THE A-2 MOTORWAY

This work employs the system of double composite action with composite piers and serves as a new proposal for the structural layout of a bridge.

In an attempt to incorporate new and specific arrangements for urban bridges, gardened areas act as a seperation between traffic and pedestrian areas and serve as both barrier to road traffic and an attractive focal point for the pedestrian.

A further feature consisted of lightening the appearance of the bridge by painting it entirely in white and by employing white concrete at the sides of the deck.

The composite piers were designed in a rectangular frame of  very slender and apparently steel elements which were filled with concrete.
