Project details

Technical Data

  • Standard span: 33 m
  • Width: 7.3 m

Description

These long railway viaducts run for almost a kilometer over very flat and open countryside, crossing fields, canals, the River Guadalquivir,  and urban areas all at realitively low height. This factor, together with the need for great economy, speed of construction, imposing presence and a satisfactory solution to the functional aspects of the bridge, all led to the selection of a prefabricated solution with simple supported beams.

The overiding concept behind the design was to achieve a image very close to Greek architecture, and was resolved by employing a powerful frieze type element supported on a similarly imposing colonnade.
